7 easy and effective methods of living a healthy lifestyle.

As we all know having a healthy lifestyle is necessary for a peaceful, relaxing, and joyful life. In this blog, I will be sharing some easy and effective methods that you can squeeze into your daily routine which will result in a healthy lifestyle in less than a week. Activeness is a common factor, but I will also be sharing some other factors that are followed and known by a smaller amount of people. So let's get right into it.

1.    Drink warm water as soon as you wake up

Warm water acts as a detox drink for your body. All you need to do is drink warm water as soon as you wake up. As we all know that while sleeping our body will repair the damaged cells in our body. In this process, certain toxins are released from the body which are flushed out by warm water. It wakes our stomach up from a resting state in the most gentle way and gives it a signal to start working, provides us with positive energy as soon as we wake up, Heals constipation, and helps In bloating.

If you want to enhance this process to a greater extent there is a detox drink that will similarly help our body but may also provide other benefits. If you have time you can make a detox drink which Is a mixture of warm or moderate temp. water with a pinch of salt and lemon in it. It will promote healthy cell function and structure. It also creates a less friendly environment. For bacteria and viruses to house leading a healthy body system. It pushes the enzymes in our body to start working better and detoxifies our liver moreover, it increases peristalsis (Peristalsis is a series of wave-like muscle contractions that move food through the digestive tract).

2.    Do not skip meals

It is a huge misconception that skipping meals may help you Lose weight and stay fit. Our body gets its energy or fuel from the food we eat. Our body senses the decrease in intake of food resulting in less energy so it starts storing energy in the form of fats thus, making us gain weight. Moreover, when our stomach starts digesting food, it releases highly toxic digestive enzymes. When there is no food to digest, the highly toxic digestive enzymes will house in our stomach causing acidity, and trust me acidity is not pretty.

Rather than skipping meals start eating meals containing high protein and other nutrients. Specifically, protein decreases the hunger hormone and increases the quantity satiety hormone which results in no hunger for a long period. A lot of calories are burnt in the self-digestion of protein, which boosts metabolism, builds muscles, balances blood sugar, and tones our body (with a certain amount of activeness). But we need to be careful not to consume a lot of protein as more of anything is not good for our bodies.

3.    Improve your eating habits.

. When Diet Is Wrong, Medicine Is Of No Use. When Diet Is Correct, Medicine Is Of No Need. – Ayurvedic Proverb.

The above quote states that if your eating habits are well enough you may not need a medicine and if your eating habits are improper the medicines you use may not be in use. Thus, understanding the requirements of your body is necessary. Here are some tips to improve your eating habits.

  • The eating window of every human being is between sunrise and sunset i.e. after sunrise in the morning and before sunset in the evening. The only food good for your stomach after sunset is warm milk which will help you in getting a deep and sound sleep.
  • As per ayurvedic texts the more the sun is at its peak the more is the ability of our body to digest food. Thus, breakfast should be heavy but not as heavy, lunch should be the main meal of the day, as the sun is at its peak, and dinner should be the lightest as we would be going to sleep after because of which our digestion would be stopped if we eat heavy dinner and we don’t want that.
  • Your breakfast should be full of nutrients including foods such as fruits, granola, eggs, yogurt, etc.
  • Your lunch should be the heaviest meal. It should contain foods like Avocado and egg sandwiches. You may include Indian spices as they help in digestion.
  • Eat food that is seasonal, local, fresh, and most importantly tasty. In Ayurveda scriptures, it is written that if the food is not tasty for us we may not be able to take an intake of its full proteins and other nutrients.
  • The amount of food you should consume varies from person to person. A person’s stomach signals the person if it is full or not but, to identify the signal we need to focus solely on eating. Therefore, while eating we should concentrate only on consuming our food.

4.     Morning exercise

Morning exercise helps our body energize and get ready for the day. Exercising in the morning burns more calories than in the evening because the high heart rate remains throughout the day.

I love doing yoga in the morning. It helps me get positive vibes around me throughout my whole day. If you love doing yoga like me, start focusing on such asanas which work your spine in all directions because all our nerves pass through the spine. Keeping the spine healthy would keep all the other parts of our body healthy. It also helps in increasing our flexibility and our body automatically gets worked out.

It is tough to make specific claims about the advantages of yoga in recent times but, some benefits found are as follows –

  • Yoga helps in reducing stress by interfering with our central nervous system’s ability to release stress hormones.
  • Practicing yoga asanas helps in the release of good hormones
  • Improves flexibility
  • Boosts metabolism
  • Enhances psychological well-being

Some specific asanas can be practiced to work the spine and for a healthy lifestyle.

5.    Heavy breakfast and light dinner

  • Heavy breakfast

After a long night, a heavy breakfast helps restore our body glucose levels which are required for our brain to function. A heavy breakfast also gives us an instant energy boost. It makes us ready for the rest of the day and also boosts our metabolism. A breakfast full of fiber and nutrients will help us handle our cravings for the rest of the day, resulting in lessening our appetite. A healthy breakfast will also help us in our memory retention and being more concentrated and focused on our work.

  • Light dinner

Your dinner should be eaten before sunset, more specifically before 7 pm which will help you in your digestion. Light dinner results in major digestion being done while you are awake which will help you in sound sleep. It may also boost your metabolism and reduce blood pressure. Late dinners may lead to acid reflux, heartburn, and bloating.

6.    Wake up before sunrise

A time between 4:30 and 5:00 in the morning is known as Brahma mudra in India. Waking up during this time will provide you with immense energy in the morning which is quite vital for our body. During this time, our creativity is at its highest peak. It is known as the best time to enhance your health, gain knowledge, and sharpen your skills. Our body absorbs most of the cosmic energy at this time. Even our subconscious mind is the most receptive at this point. Performing spiritual activities such as meditation will energize your channels.

There is a Sanskrit shlok - वर्णं कीर्तिं मतिं लक्ष्मीं स्वस्थ्यमयुश्चं विदन्ति ब्रह्मे मुहूर्चे संजग्रन्चि वा पंकज यथा – which says that those who rise during brahma murta are blessed with beauty, wealth, intelligence and good health. They become as lovely as the lotus flower.

7.    Discipline

You may be wondering what discipline has to do with good health. But discipline is the main factor for good health. If you don’t maintain discipline in your daily routine you may not be able to even do what the above given points mention. It is a huge misconception nowadays that discipline means less fun and the people who are disciplined are very serious and boring. Discipline will make your life even more interesting, fun, and joyful. Let me explain how – discipline is the habit of just setting your priorities correctly.

For eg. You are a student and you have the task of revising the chapters you have studied today in school and completing your homework, but all your friends are playing downstairs and you are intimated to go. What will you do now? First, you will complete your task, and then go to play downstairs how much ever you are intimated to go. This is discipline.

Now, if you have a task of studying and you just study for 6 to 8 hours not even focusing on your study, that is again wrong. You focus on what your job is. Your job is to study and retain the information given, do 2 to 3 hours of effective study. 2 to 3 hours of effective study is way better than 6 to 8 hours of random study. Maintaining this discipline in your life will help you in better time management, happiness, relaxation, and a sense of achievement every single day.
